Animated Video Backgrounds - Practical Examples - News

News Video Backgrounds

Example One - News

This sample was created in Adobe Premiere but the same steps apply for Final Cut, Avid and other non-linear editing programs.

We used a Animated Background from Volume One is this project. On the first video track, we placed the Animated Video Background, above that track in the timeline, we placed a still of the ambulances. To create a 'newsy' looking effect, we used a video filter to change the picture of the ambulances to black and white. You could apply other filters such as blur, halftone dots and many others to give a plain picture a different look.

In order to create the soft transition between the Animated Background and the Still Picture, we selected an image matte of a simple gradient from black to white in the transparency or keying options. We have a great package of 50 Image Mattes available for only $9.95 To find out more about Image Mattes and the many ways they can give your video production that professional network look, click HERE!

The text was overlayed using the titling function in Premiere but you could also create the titles in a graphics program such as Photoshop, Paintshop etc. ion a blue or green background and then use blue or green screen key to overlay the text. The advantage of this method is that you can combine unlimited text and graphics elements such as company logos on your title slide.

Of course you can also use video effects and movements on your titles to make characters fly or slide in.
